Dumpsters for Mineola, 26 Miles Up US-69

Wood County, Where US-69 Meets US-80

Mineola is a railroad town: in 1873 two railroads raced to reach it, and the winner beat the other by fifteen minutes. Today US-69 and US-80 cross right downtown, 26 miles north of Tyler. The town had 4,515 people in 2010 and 4,823 in 2020, and the median house dates from 1978. It's one of our longer runs, so ask about the delivery day when you call.

What Mineola's Bulk Pickup Won't Take

Inside city limits, Mineola will pick up bulk items on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday if you request it. The catch is the list of what it won't take: carpet, construction materials, freezers and fridges.

That's most of a remodel. Old carpet and a torn-out kitchen need a roll-off.

Types of Dumpster Rentals We Offer in Mineola

Mineola mixes an 1880s downtown with a lot of 1970s houses. So renovation work comes first on this list.

Downtown Storefront Renovations

The Mineola Downtown Historic District has 88 properties on about 23 acres, with buildings from 1885 to 1960. Updating one of those storefronts means old ceilings, plaster, flooring and fixtures. A 20 or 30 yard usually covers it. Downtown streets are city property, so street placement needs the city's okay.

We've seen old storefront ceilings come down with a century of dust and pressed tin behind them. Honestly, plaster is the surprise. It weighs a lot more than drywall, so on a downtown job we size the can by the wall, not by the room.

Carpet and Drywall Remodels

Pulling carpet and pad from a 1970s house fills space fast. Carpet weighs about 147 pounds per cubic yard and pad about 62, according to the EPA. Drywall is heavier at about 467. A 20 yard fits most single-floor remodels.

Cody's packing rule for carpet: "Roll it tight, tape it, lay it flat along the long wall." Rolled carpet takes half the space of carpet tossed in loose. Level with the top rail, nothing higher.

House and Rental Cleanouts

About 10% of Mineola homes sat vacant in 2020. Getting a house ready to sell or rent means clearing furniture, mattresses and whatever was left behind. A 20 yard handles a small house, and a 30 yard fits a full one.

Roofing Dumpsters

Shingle roofs are heavy, so we send a 15 or 20 yard for most Mineola homes. A 25-square roof of architectural shingles weighs close to 5 tons. Tell us the size and the shingle type.

Tonnage check: if your roofer says "about 25 squares, architectural," figure on roughly 5 tons. That's a 20 yard with room to spare in space but not in weight. We'll go over it with you before the truck heads north.

Yard Waste Dumpsters

The city's brush pickup comes once a month and wants piles behind the curb, not in the street. For a big tree job or a lot cleanup, a 30 yard holds far more than a curb pile.

How Much Does Dumpster Rental Cost in Mineola?

Dumpster rental in Mineola starts at $325 for a 15 yard, $345 for a 20 yard, $425 for a 30 yard and $545 for a 40 yard. Each price covers 2 to 5 tons and a 7-day rental. Overage is $50 to $70 per ton. Ask about delivery on longer runs when you book.

Booking a Longer Run

Mineola is about 26 miles north of Tyler on US-69, through Lindale. That is farther than our in-town drops, so the best day depends on the schedule. Call a few days ahead when you can.

We think it's better to tell you straight that a Mineola drop takes more planning than one in Tyler. The truck goes up through Lindale and back to the landfill scale with every pull. Booking a few days out lets us line your drop up with other work up that way.

Send a photo of the spot and any gate codes. The driver will call before arriving. We treat a roll-off dumpster in Mineola like any Tyler drop once it's on the ground.

If the can fills early, a swap on a longer run takes some planning, so give us a heads-up when it is getting close to full.

Southeast in Rusk County, we also serve dumpster rental in Henderson.

What Can't Go in a Mineola Dumpster

Tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, fuel tanks and hazardous waste stay out. Fridges and freezers can go in only with the freon removed. Mattress sets carry an extra fee, so mention them when you book.

The city has a burn site at the end of Bromberg Street for yard trimmings, which is an option for small brush piles.

Mineola's Older Homes and What Comes Out of Them

Mineola had about 2,264 housing units in recent census estimates, and the median one was built in 1978. Homes from that era often have wood paneling, shag or sculpted carpet, laminate counters and popcorn ceilings. All of that comes out in a remodel.

We've pulled paneling out of Mineola dens that still had the 1978 calendar nailed to it. Light stuff. A whole room of paneling barely moves the scale, so a remodel like that usually comes in well under the tons.

About 10% of homes were vacant in 2020. Empty houses sit, and the yard and the garage fill with whatever was left. Getting one ready to sell usually means a cleanout first, then a remodel, often with two different cans.

Honestly, two cans beat one big mixed load here. Cleanout junk is bulky and light. Remodel debris is heavy. Split them. Each packs right.

Mineola is also green. The Mineola Nature Preserve covers 2,911 acres, and Lake Holbrook is about 4 miles west. Homes on wooded lots near them collect limbs every storm season, and a 30 yard is the usual size for a big yard cleanup.

Mineola Questions

Dumpster Rental in Mineola FAQs

Do you deliver dumpsters to Mineola from Tyler?

Yes. Mineola is about 26 miles north of Tyler on US-69, and the prices are the same as in town. Because it is a longer run, ask about the delivery day when you book. Calling a few days ahead gives you the best choice of dates.

Will Mineola's bulk pickup take my old carpet?

No. The city's bulk pickup excludes carpet, construction materials, freezers and refrigerators. It runs on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday for homes inside city limits. Carpet, pad, drywall and cabinets from a remodel go in a roll-off, and a 20 yard fits most single-floor jobs.

Can a dumpster go on the street downtown in Mineola?

Only with the city's permission, since the street is public. Check with Mineola City Hall before booking a street spot. A private lot or alley behind the building, if you control it, needs no permit. The truck needs about 60 feet of straight room.

What size dumpster do I need for a Mineola house cleanout?

A 20 yard works for most small houses, and a 30 yard fits a full three-bedroom with a garage. The 30 yard has 6-foot walls and 3 tons included. If the house has a lot of heavy items like tile or plaster, tell us so we can plan the weight.
