Roll-Off Dumpsters Out SH-155 to Winona

Where SH-155 Meets FM 16

Winona is small: 576 people in 2010, 623 in 2020. It sits where SH-155 crosses FM 16, roughly 12 miles northeast of downtown Tyler. The median house went up in 1984, and about 23.5% of homes are manufactured or mobile homes. No other town on our route comes close to that. Lots of acreage, lots of fence. Next-day delivery is the usual.

Getting the Truck Onto a Winona Property

On your own land there's no permit. If the can has to go on a city street, Winona City Hall is the place to ask first.

The entrance is where country drops go wrong. A narrow gate, or a culvert that's been sinking for years. Tell us about it and the driver will pick the angle before he backs in.

Types of Dumpster Rentals We Offer in Winona

Winona lots mix house jobs and land jobs, often on the same property. Here's the rundown.

Manufactured Home Teardown Debris

When an old single-wide or double-wide comes down, the debris is paneling, insulation, carpet, cabinets, skirting and framing. Most of it is light. A 30 or 40 yard fits most teardowns once the steel frame and axles are hauled off separately for scrap.

On a job last summer off FM 16, a family took down an old single-wide to make room for a new home. The insulation and paneling filled a 40 yard to the top rail but only weighed about 3 tons. The frame went to scrap. One can, one swap. Done.

Fence and Pasture Cleanup

Old fence lines collect fallen trees, rotten posts, wire and vines. A 30 yard with 3 tons included handles a long run. Roll old wire into bundles so it packs tight.

Honestly, wire is the part people dread. Cody's trick: "Roll it around a fence post like a hose, slide the post out, and toss the coil in." It packs flat and doesn't snag the next load.

Roofing Dumpsters

Metal and shingle roofs both go in a roll-off. Shingles are heavy, about 230 to 250 pounds per square for 3-tab and 400 to 430 for architectural, so we usually send a 15 or 20 yard. Old roof metal is light and bulky.

Tonnage check: an old metal roof is light, maybe a ton for a whole house. Shingles over the same house can be three times that. Tell us which one is coming off and we'll send the can that fits.

Whole-House Cleanouts

Clearing a family home or a rental means furniture, mattresses, clothes and boxes. A 20 yard with 4-foot walls is right for most Winona homes. Mattress sets carry an extra fee, so mention them.

We think a 20 yard is the sweet spot for most Winona houses. If you're on the fence between sizes, go up. A second haul costs more than the bigger can.

Deck and Porch Remodels

Wood decks and porches rot in the East Texas damp, and replacing one makes a pile of boards and old railings. A 15 or 20 yard covers most decks.

Winona Dumpster Prices

Winona pays Tyler prices: $325 for a 15 yard with 2 tons, $345 for a 20 yard with 2 tons, $425 for a 30 yard with 3 tons and $545 for a 40 yard with up to 5 tons. A standard rental is 7 days. Each extra ton costs $50 to $70.

Country Roads and the Old Dixie Highway

Winona has been on a road to somewhere for a long time. FM 16 grew out of the Dallas-Shreveport Road, a trade route in use by the 1840s. The Tyler-Winona Road, also called the Dixie Highway, was finished in 1914 and was the first hard-surface road built with Smith County money.

During World War II, Camp Fannin trained infantry three miles south of town. Today the land around Winona is mostly homes on a few acres, pasture and woods.

Our trucks run out SH-155 from Tyler. County roads off it can be narrow, so we plan the turn before we arrive.

We think the old roads are part of what makes Winona feel like Winona. They're also narrow. Our drivers take the county roads slow and swing wide at the turn-ins, and if a mailbox sits right on the corner, we'll call before we try the angle.

Farther north on US-69, we also deliver dumpsters in Mineola.

What Can't Go in a Winona Dumpster

Tires, paint, chemicals, batteries, fuel tanks and hazardous waste can't go in a roll-off. On country lots that often means old tractor tires, half-used cans of fence paint, weed killer and the gas can from the mower shed. Set those aside before the can arrives.

Fridges, freezers and window AC units can go in only after a certified tech removes the freon. That is a federal rule under the Clean Air Act.

Every time we clear a country barn, there's a tractor tire behind the door. Tires are the one thing we see most often set beside a full can. Cody's take: "Call the tire shop in town. Most take them for a small fee."

Car batteries, motor oil and antifreeze can go to the Tyler Recycling Center at 414 N Bois D Arc Ave. If you are not sure about an item, ask before you load it. Taking it back out of a full can is no fun. A roll-off dumpster in Winona that's loaded clean gets pulled the same day you call.

Winona Dumpster Questions

Can the Steel Frame of a Mobile Home Go in the Dumpster?

No. The steel frame and axles are too big and heavy. They go to a scrap yard, and the rest of the home goes in the can.

Can You Set a Dumpster in a Pasture?

Yes, when the ground is dry and firm. After a wet week we use the driveway or a gravel spot instead.

Can Burned Debris Go in a Dumpster?

Cold ash and burned wood can go in once it is fully out and cool. Never load anything still warm.

Dumpster Rental in Winona FAQs

What size dumpster do I need to tear down a mobile home in Winona?

A 40 yard fits most single-wides once the steel frame goes to scrap. It holds up to 5 tons of paneling, insulation, carpet and framing. A double-wide may need two cans or a swap. Tell us the size of the home and we will plan the cans.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Winona?

Not on private property. Most Winona drops are on a driveway or a cleared spot on the lot, which needs no permit. For a can on a public street, check with Winona City Hall first. County road right-of-way should stay clear.

How quickly can a dumpster get to Winona?

Often next-day. Winona is about 12 miles northeast of Tyler on SH-155, a short run for our trucks. Same-day is possible when a truck is open. Tell us about gates or culverts so the driver can plan the way in.

Can I keep a dumpster longer than a week in Winona?

Yes. The standard rental is 7 days, and you can add days when you book. Land and teardown jobs often run longer. If the can fills early, call and we swap it for an empty one or pick it up.
